Here are simple ways to make your property stand out. When selling, you have a lot of competition and you need to shine in the market to stand out.
- Make that Door stand out
Let’s face it, how often do you enter your home through your front door? Probably not often. If your house is up for sale, all prospective buyers will enter through your front door. While standing waiting to enter into the house buyers start to look around. Make sure your light fixtures are clean, eaves cobweb free, the doorbell actually works and your door looks fresh– no peeling paint, scratches or cracks. Adding plants always make visitors feel welcome.
- Curb Appeal
Ensure that all the kid’s toys and garden tools are put away, garage doors work and are in good condition. Gutters are clean and working properly. Trim the bushes so they are neat and maintain the lawn during the growing season is crucial.
- Look down
Make sure floors are clean; if you have carpets make sure they are in good condition if they are not, replace. Hardwood floors should be scratch free, and tile floors with no cracks. All these items are not that expensive to take care of and will reflect well with the buyer.
- Look at your walls
Make sure they are crack free, dirt free, blemish free. Remove peeling wallpaper and repaint with a neutral color. Paint in neutral colors has a stronger buyer appeal than wallpaper or bold colors. Invest the money in a fresh gallon of paint you will be rewarded.
- A place for everything and everything in a place
Is what my father use to always say. If buyers see piles and stuff through your home they will realize that this house does not have enough storage. This is a great time to start organizing and eliminating things that you really no longer need. Why move items you will never use in your next home?
- Squeaky Clean
Last, keep in mind nothing turns a buyer off faster than dirt, grime, and dust. It conveys a message that other items through the house are in disrepair when it might not be the case. An extensive cleaning of every room is worth every second you spend. No detail should be missed. I tell my clients to make sure it is white glove cleaned or spic and span clean- whichever way you think of it, every surface needs to shine.
By concentrating on these six basic necessities when selling your home, you will outshine over your competition!
